Why I am starting this blog

Welcome!

My name is Asher. I am a recent high school graduate, podcaster, and aspiring writer. After all these years in school, I must admit my weakness: I don’t yet have a writer’s voice.

I have spent the last four years building my public speaking abilities as a debater, leading a variety of clubs, and helping out in my community through volunteer service. I wrote “well enough” but didn’t focus on that part of the equation.

I love my English teachers, but…

One would think English class would teach me a thing or two about writing, but I didn’t experience the raw criticism I truly needed to progress. Don’t get me wrong, I love my English teachers; many of them are the most influential teachers I have had, but none of them tore my writing apart (in the best way possible).

I am writing a book!

The book dives into a topic my brother, Joey, coined “The Modern Connection Paradox,” the idea that we are more connected because of the technology that we now have, yet we feel even less connected than generations did in the past. As I write it, I will share snippets here. Will you give me some feedback when I do?

My goal

My goal is to write and publish an article every week or so. It might be something political, it might be something about my life, or it might be an opinion piece.

As I post more of my pieces, I hope to hear from you! If you hate one of them, let me know. If you love one of them, let me know.

Here’s to starting this new project!
